The Nambucca Valley Children’s Group (NVCG) merged with Lifetime Connect in July 2016 to enable us to provide a broad, inclusive service for age groups in the Nambucca Valley LGA.
Following the closure of the Nambucca Heads Community Service Centre in 1988, the Department of Community Services provided funding to the Children’s Group to establish a Family Support Service in the Nambucca and Bellingen Shires in 1989. In 1990 funding was also received for a Family Day Care Service and in 1995, the Group received funding to establish an Early Childhood Intervention Service for children with disabilities and their families. Funding to establish three Families NSW projects was received in 2000 (Family Worker Fathers, Supported Playgroup and Specialist Family Worker projects), increasing the Children’s Group’s participation in service delivery to the Bellingen Shire. In the same year the Bellingen/Nambucca Victims of Crime Support Service was established with new funding received from NSW Health Department.
The Group restructured in 2003 to meet changing needs and increasing responsibilities and as part of this process, appointed a manager for all services. In 2004 these increased with the Children’s Group resuming responsibility for the operation of the Nambucca Valley Out of School Hours Care Service.
In 2004 the funding was approved for management of the Reconnect Bellingen/Nambucca service through a partnership with two other local community services. Macksville Vacation Care service was established in 2006 and After School Care commenced in Nambucca Heads in 2010.
Funded by the Australian & NSW Government.
