Out and about to preschool were Lifetime Connects Social Support group on Thursday December 5. The planned Intergenerational Preschool visits have started at Bowraville Preschool. The group were greeted by the children singing a traditional Gumbaynggirr welcome song and with other songs that the children had sung at the Bowra Cup. The older group watched and enjoyed the younger generation’s mini concert. More was yet to come.
The morning continued with art and crafts. The children were involved in choosing the activities that they were going to share with their special guests. It was smiles and deep conversations all round as the children shared their learning space with their older guests.
‘Our Social support clients loved the outing and commented on how much they enjoyed their visit with some of the highlights including the singing and dancing and seeing the learning that the children are offered.’ said General Manager, Glenys Munro.
‘The experience was new and rewarding for both generations and a huge success. One gentleman commented that he simply didn’t know what the morning was going to bring but he was so happy he came. We will definitely look to more opportunities to bring the generations together.’ Glenys said.
We would like to thank Bowraville Preschool for hosting the Intergenerational Preschool visit.
