Nambucca Valley provides Education & Support for children aged 0-8yrs, living in the Nambucca Shire, who have more than one area of developmental delay or a diagnosed disability.
We endeavour to support children with special needs and their families to reach the best possible outcomes and work closely with health professionals including Child & Family Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists & Speech Pathologists as well as Early Childhood Services and local Primary Schools.
We offer a personalised service for each family, recognising that everyone has different needs and priorities.
Or if there is something that just doesn’t seem quite right with your child’s development
Initial visits are often conducted at the home as the child and parents feel most comfortable in this environment. Three staff members will visit with you initially to meet and play with your child, listen to your concerns, answer any questions and help to plan what your next step might be.
Ongoing support which may include directing you to appropriate services, support in understanding and implementing programs from therapists and helping to establish routines and structures at home to make life a little easier. Home visits are generally suited to children under 2 years of age.
Preparation for school classes (PREP). These are small groups for children who are heading off to Primary school the following year. Focus is on school-readiness skills such as listening, participating, following instructions, becoming independent, completing a task and turn-taking with peers.
MyTime parent support group, Parent & professional workshops & information sessions.
